2022 SCCA Champions U15 Coolum Heat (2)

2022 – Coolum Heat – U15 Champions

What a great season for the U15 Coolum Heat team!  Due to a washed out grand-final between the Sunshine Coast southern and northern divisions, the Coolum Heat team have been declared joint Sunshine Coast u15 Champions with the Glasshouse cricket club team.

The Heat team manoeuvred their way through a turbulent season interrupted by Covid-19 and weather issues, but held steady to only lose two games throughout a season that started way back in early October.  The two losses were both very close games with only a few runs deciding the difference.  One of these was to Coolum’s other under 15 team, the Renegades, who were very unlucky to miss the finals.  In many of the other matches, the Heat won by convincing scores.

This grand-final achievement is no real surprise to the many parents and friends who follow this super team.  Most of the lads have been together for approximately three seasons and their commitment to training is always of a high standard.  This team’s fielding is outstanding and they consistently put pressure on their opposition.  They set themselves high standards and everyone tried to keep this a priority.  Some cricket teams rely on a couple of strong players, but this team has depth in both batting and bowling.  Each week, a different member would step up and prove to be the difference. There have been some outstanding individual performances that are worthy of lifetime memories; whether that is a quick 50 runs, 4 wickets, a super catch or an important run-out; Everyone has contributed.

Both coaches, Murray and Jeff have been super proud of the development of the boys over the years and really feel that they have deserved this premiership.  Deep down, they were confident going into the grand-final against the Sunshine Coast southern winners Glasshouse CC, as they both knew the northern champions – Coolum Heat – could dominate with both bat and ball.

Congratulations to the Coolum Heat team for an outstanding season.
